Poetry is not shared knowledge. Poetry is absolutely proprietary. Where knowledge of poetry appears to be shared it is far more likely to have been stolen or developed in parallel. Just try to share knowledge of poetry -- or rather, if you want to share your knowledge, appear to horde it, make an anti-show of assigning value to your knowledge.

Poets are fundamentally competitive. It is possible to turn that competitive drive toward collaboration and a mutual pursuit of excellence. There are a few cases of poets extending that collaborative exemption to more than two or three other poets. A few.
