Arguing for arguing's sake.

Finished a novel yesterday. Around when did poetry yield the pleasure of reality effects to fiction? I remember roughly when music once-and-for-all took over the rhyme and clever allusion rackets, and I've read in textbooks about how art transmuted speaking-to-mystify into gold. Was it the New Americans who were too damn good for the objective correlative? I think it was!

Hey, thanks, guys -- we're wowing them all over the world with this shapeless incoherent petulance you left us.
