One thing I noticed working on New Addresses with Kenneth was how stagey the second person usually sounds, how most poets go straight to either imperatives or litigatorish litanies of the addressee's actions. One of the tests or anyway something I listened for in those poems was whether it sounded like Kenneth was actually speaking to his subject.
