More on Claudia Emerson and her publisher, the Pulitzer-juggernaut Louisiana State University Press. She's 49, teaches at Mary Washington College in Virginia. It's her third book, and it covers her 19-year first marriage and the beginnings of her second marriage. The quotes all sound like Pulitzer-judge Kooser to me: plain-spoken to the point of blandness, with a sentimental morbid streak.

Again, haven't read it, but given that Kooser sees "vividness" where any other observer would see dyingness, hopes is not high.
